RENTAL ASSISTANCE

The Harford County Housing Agency offers several types of
rental subsidy programs for income-eligible families.
For more information, call 410-638-3045.

  • HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHER PROGRAM (SECTION 8):  Provides rental assistance to income-eligible families by paying a portion of their monthly rent, to help them afford a better place.  A family consists of one or more household members, and the household income must meet federal income limit guidelines.  [click here for more information...]

  • RENTAL ALLOWANCE PROGRAM:  The Rental Allowance Program provides a rent subsidy to low-income residents who are either homeless or in need of temporary emergency housing and are not eligible for any other housing assistance program, but are capable of returning to self-sufficiency. One year is the maximum period for the subsidy.  Limited funding available.

  • TRANSITIONAL HOUSING SERVICES:  Housing counselors offer clients guidance in areas of education and employment, provide referrals to other helpful agencies, and assist them in their efforts to regain entry into mainstream society.

  • HOUSING ASSISTANCE FOR FAMILIES WITH DISABILITIES (HAFD):  Provides tenant-based rental assistance and supportive services to income-eligible families with HIV/AIDS.  Supportive services are provided by the Harford County Health Department to assist with short-term rent, utilities, security deposit, and moving expense.  First contact the Health Department at 410-638-8419, or 410-638-8496.

Additional information can be found on the Department of Social Services website,
or call 410-836-4700.  After normal business hours, call 410-838-6600.
